Howdy, folks. This week we bring you an update NOT from Pear Tree Hill Farm but from Hoof Hearted Farm instead. This week, we are farm-sitting for a young couple we met at the Palisades…and boy, what a great week for them to be away from the burgs! Record setting cold temps, snow, ice.
Yep. Pretty good time for a vacation.
Hoof Hearted Farm is situated in the Tom’s Creek Basin, just outside the Town of Blacksburg. On nearly 16 acres, these good folks are all about land stewardship, animal well-being and quality products (pasture-raised raw dairy, Dexter beef, and goats). We appreciate their trust in us to tend to their livestock and property!
What a great adventure we are having, too. The puppies have learned all about electric fencing (took two days to learn that getting zapped is no fun), I’ve learned how to milk cows, and I’ve gotten to hang out with some beautiful animals.
So, today’s collection of photos are from our temporary farmstead; from this morning when Jordan worked the tractor to clear the 9+ inches of snow to our afternoon “someone else’s” pasture walk for some exploration of the property.
Keep warm! Spring is just around the corner, but for now, enjoy the peace and beauty of this fresh new snow.
