2016 First Harvest

We had our first harvest of the 2016 season this weekend (short window for non-frozen ground)!

Although we will sorely miss our over-wintered, super sweet and crisp carrots, momma needed some more seed buying money, so we sold all our carrots and Kennebec potatoes to the VABF (Virginia Association for Biological Farming) conference being held Jan 29-30 at Smith Mountain Lake.

We will miss you, carrots

We will miss you, carrots

This conference is a great resource to farmers, and I wish I could go this year not only for the wonderful information, but for the locally sourced, freshly prepared foods. If you happen to be heading that way, enjoy some potatoes and carrots on our behalf!
