We welcomed summer with a nice day at the Radford market (many thanks to all who came out) followed by some serious weeding. It seems that the overall most impressive plants that we grow are weeds…..and poison ivy. Still, we’ve come such a long way from breaking the sod just last year.
Anyway, to honor the coming of summer, we also had a family cookout on Sunday. It was nice to have our parents out and sup on some of our own produce (enjoyed a great kale, collard, mustard, cabbage and shell pea salad) while savoring the shade of our catalpa tree and the westerly breeze. The food was great. The wine was refreshing. And the surroundings were peaceful. Hope y’all were able to enjoy your first weekend of summer, too.
